One of the great things about

10/4/10 -- One of the great things about being a children's book author is the interesting places I get to visit. Case in point -- LaMoure, North Dakota, population 790. It's tucked away in the southeast quadrant of the state, and the truth is I probably never would have gone there if I hadn't been invited to speak to kids about the writing process at LaMoure Public School. Which would have been my loss, because not only are the plains amazing -- 180 degrees of dramatic sky, 180 degrees of fertile, windswept land -- but so, in their own delightful way, are the people who live on them.
