Summer continues at a

7/27/11 -- Summer continues at a lickity-split pace. Back from teaching at the Vermont College of  Fine Arts MFA program in creative writing, I've stepped into a giddy whirlwind of  preparation for my youngest daughter's wedding on July 30th. It's great fun, and full of joy -- Amy and Alex are so right for each other -- but every now and then my head starts to spin.

At the Vermont residency there was much talk of finding the "heart moments" or "hot spots" in a story, points in which there is the opportunity to go deep on an emotional level, "throw yourself in front of the train" with your writing. I've got the distinct feeling that I'm approaching one of those in my own personal narrative now.
