Character Development/Debeardment

It had been over a decade since I'd shaved off my mustache, so when hiking the Pacific Crest Trail in August I decided to leave the razor at home and see what I looked like with facial hair again. I went from sandpaper to stubble to fuzzy-chinned in short order. Back home in front of the mirror, I considered the results. Facial hair is part of the physical mix that defines a person, at least on the outside. But did it reflect who I felt I was on the inside?
