Nomenclature

I love words, and am fascinated with their variety. (If you're a writer, It comes with the territory.) We name things in order to identify them, specifically.

For example, a group of animals is not just a group. Bats clump together in colonies. Bees in swarms. Crows in murders. Wolves in packs. Elk in herds. Fish in schools. Geese in gaggles. Lions in prides. Whales in pods.

While visiting the desert Southwest recently, a dozen or so wild pigs called javelinas came calling, and I learned that in a group they are called a squadron. Yep, a squadron. The more I watched them, the more spot-on the word became—behavior matched nomenclature.

So what do you call a group of writers?
