After years of working and revising, and revising more, and still more, you finally reach a point where your editor says, "And now it's perfect." And the next thing you know the novel is off to the typesetter. You're done. The End.

But of course it's not The End. In some ways it's just the beginning. Until the story is in readers' hands, and heads, and hearts, it's incomplete. Synergy is needed. Story + reader = something magically larger than the sum of the parts. That is why we write. And why we read.
